Rankins Return!
While making a last run through the Mudcat Cafe forums before the FSGW Getaway, I discovered this article. Apparently, the four surviving Rankin siblings, with niece Molly in tow, are recording a new album and preparing to tour. The album will include Rankin originals plus covers of David Francey and Gordon Lightfoot.
This is excellent news heading into a folk weekend. We were introduced to the Rankin Family byoldfolkieathome a while back and saw them at the Birchmere. I enjoyed both of their albums I have, North Country and Uprooted. I will have to check out the new disc when it comes out.
Amusingly, in my excitement over the article, I did not notice until I got to the end of the piece that it had appeared in the Halifax Herald. Written, of course, by the Herald's entertainment reporter and legendary RATMM'ermoxieholic!
